Gallery Gilmore is still going strong… 109 years later!

From Mr. Anchor, Grade 4 teacher

For staff like myself who have been at Gilmore for some time, it seems like just yesterday that we had our 100 year celebration… but that was nine years ago, in 2015! Families who are newer to Gilmore, who missed out on that celebration, may not be aware of Gilmore’s long and rich history.

Did you know there has been a school on this same site for 112 years?! In 1912, Vancouver Heights School, a small wooden school house, was opened. Just three years later, in 1915, a new, much larger brick school was built, just in front of the wooden school. That original brick building, the original Gilmore School, through a number of additions and a major seismic upgrade, has evolved into the school we know today.
